IT Support Engineer Found the Perfect Fit with Strive

Author : Strive Health

Computers have always interested Carole Stephenson. That’s why she was so happy to join Strive Health in December 2020 as an IT Support Engineer.

But it took a stint with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as an environmental chemist — and fear of potential radiation exposure at a worksite — to set Stephenson on a path toward a career in technology.

After earning a network and systems administration degree, Stephenson went on to earn another degree in technical management. She spent 15 years in the credit union industry before finding the opportunity she always wanted.

“I was excited that Strive was built to help people and change lives,” Stephenson said. “I really enjoy making people happy by fixing their computers and getting them back to work.”

Stephenson, based in Colorado and on Mountain Time, rises early each day to help team members (aka Strivers) on the East Coast. She works quickly to resolve their issues so they can go about their days.

“I start my day around 5 a.m.,” Stephenson said. “I wouldn’t want anyone locked out of their computer for hours and unable to get to work.”

She recalls one rewarding moment when she could help a Strive nurse whose phone calls kept dropping.

“It was a frustrating experience for her and her patients,” Stephenson said. “I ran tests on our end and then contacted her home internet service provider to test her line. It turns out the problem was on their end. We resolved the issue so she could talk to more patients and save more lives.”

That’s just one of many Strivers left satisfied by the support Stephenson provides. Praise abounds across Strive’s Slack channels with comments like:

“As a new Striver, I want to thank the Training and IT Teams that guided me through my first two weeks of orientation. During my first week, Carole Stephenson became my best friend! I feel I am off to a good start!”

“Thank you to Carole Stephenson for always being so helpful. She has been one of the nicest people I have ever encountered. Always so cheerful and kind and never too busy to help solve my IT issues.”

Stephenson loves making people happy. She does that by helping them with their computers, and she also writes and contributes to online articles Strivers can use to troubleshoot issues on their own.

Most important to Stephenson is working for a company that cares for people with kidney disease and their employees. That mission makes her proud.

“I love that we’re called Strive because I always strive to help our team in any capacity so they can do their jobs and be Kidney Heroes™,” Stephenson said.

She’s glad to have found Strive after decades of searching for the perfect fit.

“My role at Strive is the job I always wanted,” Stephenson said.
