Senior Director, Quality Position Description:

The Senior Director of Quality will be responsible for the development, management, and implementation of a strategy and vision to improve patient services, quality, and safety outcomes across the organization. S/he will direct and implement effective quality improvement programs and serve as a visionary leader promoting outcomes management and evidence-based practice throughout the organization. This person will direct clinical quality initiatives, including NCQA accreditation and compliance with regulatory agencies and other objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for accreditation activities necessary for attaining / maintaining NCQA health plan accreditation
  • Assure the training and continuing education of staff regarding standards and guidelines, including NCQA and HEDIS.
  • Develop quality programs, patient safety, and a level of customer service that exceeds internal and external customer expectations.
  • Assist and support assessments of patient satisfaction, annual safety surveys and any other survey instruments as necessary.
  • Manage the overall NCQA survey processes and identification of resources required to successfully lead the plan through NCQA accreditation.
  • Facilitate project management and develop comprehensive accreditation work plans by establishing deliverables, accountabilities, and timelines
  • Lead the development of quality/patient safety goals
  • Work with the medical staff leadership and their respective departments in the implementation of quality/performance improvement initiatives to increase clinical excellence and develop integrated approach to improving patient care across the organization.
  • Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis of quality related data and report activities, improvements, and provide recommendations to internal and external clients.
  • Interface collaboratively with internal and external clients in the review of quality requirements and implementation of appropriate interventions to meet compliance.
  • Practice excellent employee relations with attention to employee needs and develop and mentor a high performing management team for all areas of responsibility.
  • Maintain expert knowledge of current industry standards, quality improvement activities, and strong medical management skills.
  • Help drive clinical market performance to meet market goals and objectives.
  • Acts as a key advisor to senior management on the development of clinical quality, NCQA guidelines, overall policy and long-terms quality goals of the organization

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing, Healthcare, Business or related field
  • 10 years of progressive experience in the management of quality and safety improvement programs
  • Certified Professional Healthcare Quality
  • 7 years’ experience working with NCQA accreditation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification
  • Ability to teach, strong organizational skills, excellent communication, customer service, relationship development, results orientation, team building and decision-making.
  • Understanding of Value Based Care
  • Demonstrated ability, or potential, to excel in smaller entrepreneurial organizations.
  • Excels at developing strong patient/caregiver relationships that foster engagement and best outcomes
